What engagement rate tells you
Engagement rate shows how many people did something after seeing your content: liked, commented, shared or saved it. A high view count with low engagement often means people scrolled past; strong engagement tells the platform your content is worth showing to more people.
There are two common ways to measure it. By views shows how well one post landed with the people who saw it. By followers or subscribers shows how active your audience is overall. This calculator shows both, so you can use the one that fits your question.
How to read your result
- Compare posts on the same platform; each platform counts and shows content differently.
- Compare against your own average first. Your past posts are a fairer yardstick than another creator’s.
- Comments and shares usually signal stronger interest than likes, so watch those rates too.
The formulas
Like rate and comment rate use the same idea for one interaction at a time, divided by views. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Common questions
How do you calculate engagement rate?
Add up likes, comments, shares and saves, divide by views (or followers), then multiply by 100. The calculator above does it for you and shows both versions.
Should I use views or followers?
Use views to judge a single post or video. Use followers or subscribers to judge how active your whole audience is over time.
What is a good engagement rate?
It varies a lot by platform, niche and audience size. The fairest test is your own average: if a post beats it, that post did well for you.
Is my data saved?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing you enter is stored or sent.
